The GE5C mod is actually still too immature to be useful over stock Z-joints. If you snug the bolts from GE5C to extrusion you eliminate any x-y slip. When you attempt to auto level this creates issues as any adjustment in a corner creates torsion along the extrusions to the other corners that the GE5C now can’t eliminate as it is not allowed to slip in x-y at all. The easiest way to think about this is that if you raise a single corner the extrusions cannot change length, so they pull the other corners toward the raised point.

If you under-tighten the bolts then this allows slip in the direction of the T-nut in one direction along the aluminum extrusion, but it can then be way to loose and vibration and print head movement will dominate.

There is a “goldylocks” zone for tightening this bolt but it will be incredibly difficult to adjust… and as the bolt tip wears on the extrusion, this will change.

The mod needs modified so that it can allow x-y slip with reasonable adjustability.

I would certainly agree that both of the current designs have there drawbacks. I too could never seem to find that "perfect" tightness or looseness with the Voron design. More than once I found a linear rail bearing sitting at the bottom of the rail while the gantry floated along. I gave some thought of placing a spring between the head of the bolt and the bottom of the lower joint using Loctite to keep the bolt in place and the spring would allow some movement of the joint, but what spring do you choose?  I'm hoping someone a lot smarter that me can come up with a better solution. There is a little "slop" in this new design and it is working better for me. In the end I think a three point "Z" system would have made a better choice but it also have many of the same problems. Just one man's opinion. It's a little foggy right now but I see a Voron X.X in my future.
