Let the journey begin

Printed all the parts for the Voron 2.4r1 (red and black) and as I was about to begin ---the 2.4r2 was released. Question was, do I build the printer with the parts already printed, just print the new parts, or.......?  Well I decided to build a Voron 0 instead. (V0.1632) and started reprinting the parts for the 2.4r2 in a totally new colour scheme (Red and yellow) Also printed the parts in PC-ABS rather than just ABS for additional strength. Also gave me time to learn from the experiences of others, especially @Buurman

And just when I thought I was ready to start, I saw the front idlers mod which I just had to print. Like @PFDennis, I just can't resist a good mod. Finishing printing this now on my VZBot:

Building on a mirror 600x900x8mm - should be pretty flat. Not as nice as the granite slab that @EricD got but it will do. I built my Voron 0 on a glass bed from a Tronxy X5sa with excellent results. (I converted the Tronxy to a VZBot as seen above) So let the journey begin:

Ooooohhh!! exiting! have a great build, I am starting my second, so looks like the Netherlands will be 2 Vorons richer soon!!

What front idles mod do you mention?

These ones: Printed them - will see if I am going to use them when I get there.

The only problem with self sourcing - you need to do some additional work. Had the plate cut at local aluminium works. Guess I'll have to do some drilling and tapering. (Luckily th estl includes a drilling guid. This is what I love about the Voron team - leaves nothing to change

Have both a 6mm and 9mm aluminium heat resistant plate (5083) . Which would you recommend?

Even though I am in Oz,, my alliance is still with Holland. (From Leeuwarden, Friesland) Don't hold that against me 🙂

@BuurmanRan into a hitch. Only have 5mm shafts - need to source some 4.96mm shafts. Ah the joys of mods ....

Ah, thats what I was afraid of, No need for a mod really if you need to order new stuff for it... I love it when they are able to use existing materials.

And really.... not 5mm but 4.96mm ?? damn... facepalm...

Found a stl for the 5mm shaft. Will be printing this today.

Well printed and assembled the mod front idlers.

Comparing to the originals, they do not look as robust as the original. Still pondering on whether to use or not.

Guess I am committed now. Assembly was reasonably straightforward. Installation on Y bit more tricky to orientate. Not much more building this week as work gets in the way of play.

Waiting for the heater pad for the bed (220V 400W 280x280). Silly me initially ordered a 300x300. Guess I'll have to now build a 350mm printer 🙂

Still getting on with the build. Very slow mainly due to work commitments. Or maybe it is the mods - who knows. Have the Stealthburner with integrated LED's and printed the orbiter extruder, assembled it and ......left it out go the build.

IMG_2396.thumb.jpeg.3a04c3b145c63c909dc1183980742a4b.jpegIMG_2397.thumb.jpeg.96eb62fc522e56da3d2d2fc56e0e7f2a.jpeg

Instead printed the parts and installed a Bondtech LGX Extruder. (Printing Nylon and flexible and these extruders are excellent for that purpose)  Problem is where to mount the PCB to fit in with the aesthetics of the Stealthburner. Been searching and trolling discord with no luck so far. Mmmmmh - what to do?

IMG_2401.thumb.jpeg.2730d38e5a891b3f41559925acb667f7.jpeg

Considered the Min LGX - haven't printed any parts to mount it and don't think I will at this stage. Will have the same problem with the PCB mount.

Also went with the Euclid probe (love the design)rather than clicky.

Will continue on the journey and the saga of Voron 2.4r2 .............

that's a Revo. I will guess a Micro based on the tiny bit of heat sink I can see there.

Its... soooo tiny!!!! 🤩

Beware of the dock side!! Looks overly complicated compared to Klicky stuff...
