  1. Big box at my door with Chinese all over it , what could it be ? I've been planning this build since I discovered Voron shortly after being gifted a very old Ender 3 which led to purchasing a CR6se which in turn led to modding the crap out of it so it could print the parts for the big box at my door. 4 months ago I'd never even seen an fdm printer in person and today I'm building what is quite possibly the coolest robot around. Mistakes coming , lessons to be learned, thank God for discord. Here goes everything....
  2. Hello everyone, This is my second Voron printer build, my first being a Voron0 which has been a fantastic little printer. But I needed something a little larger, so I ended up buying a LDO Trident kit. I wanted to visualize the colour scheme of my new Trident a little better than I did with my V0 build. I know there are a few good web based colour configurators for Voron's out there but I needed a little more control. As I know my way around blender quite well and Fusion360 feels quite unfamiliar to me, I ended up importing the cad model (exported as stl) into blender and colouring as needed. Anyway, I have decided on quite a dark scheme with a touch of Voron red. Will post some 'real' build photo's soon.
  3. Hey guys, in the Introduction threat I was asked to let you participate in the construction of my first Voron. I hope my Google English can be understood to some extent without laughing to death. A Voron 2.4r2 with 300mm is planned. The following mods should be integrated immediately: Stealtburner with Clockwork2 PCB board for print head Klicky Probe BIGTREETECH PI TFT50 V2.0 with Klipperscreen or Octodash (which would you recommend?) LED case lighting (can I control the stripes directly from the board?) Webcam (Logitech) The basis is the kit from Formbot. Parts are mostly on the way and my Anycubic i3 Mega S is already busy printing the parts. The main color is printed in black from Esun ABS+. The accent color will be silver, either made of ABS+ by Esun or ASA by Extrudr. I will print the parts of the X-Carriage and the Stealtburner out of PA12carbon. If I don't forget to take pictures in between, I'll be happy to show them to you and keep you up to date.
  4. Day one Finally got off my butt and got my kit build started. Didn't get really far. Working on it while trying to get some other projects done, so you'll have to pardon the mess. Got frame done. Only had to take it apart 3 times. Had one extrusion facing the wrong way, forgot to install Y rails, and forgot to install nutbars. Everything checked out square in the end though. Following the manual and Steve Builds YouTube series. First build, so I'm doing it step by step. Trying to make sure I miss as much as possible, that worked out well the first day, lol. Had to stop, because I forgot to clean and prep linear rails ahead of time. I'll work some more on it tomorrow hopefully. Will try to take pics when I remember.
  5. I hadn't anticipated starting a build log until I actually started to build my Voron 2.4, but because I decided to self-source instead of buying a kit I thought I'd share my experience. To begin, I don't have a lot of 3D printing experience other than assembling a Prusa 3S+, but I do have plenty of experience building drones, other R/C vehicles and building Raspberry Pi/Arduino electronic projects. I bought the Prusa to print items for the other projects I had going and fell in love with 3D printing. So, I wanted to print with advanced materials and started looking for a second printer and found Voron. It's the best of both worlds for me, I get to assemble a printer, and, get a quality printer that can print advanced materials. The decision to self-source was based on my goal to get as many high quality components as I could, within reason, and being retired I had plenty of time. I started with the V 2.4 Configurator on the Voron site and generated a Bill of Material for a 300mm X 300mm printer. There are about 110 items on the BOM that would have to be acquired and the Voron Sourcing Guide pointed me to several online sources. I prefer to buy online items from US based companies, even though most of the components are manufactured in Asia, and quickly found out that would make the sourcing more of a challenge. Many US suppliers had some items in stock but many of the items were sold out and I had to go looking for them. It took about three weeks and about 40 hours of my time to purchase everything I needed and I was able to source everything from the US except the control board, a full set of printed components, and four LDO SS Rails. In order to keep track of all the necessary purchases, I created a spread sheet from the Voron generated BOM. Besides item descriptions and quantities, I included columns for the date when the item was purchased, who it was purchased from, the cost, and when the item was delivered. The longest wait times were the extrusions from Misumi and they are due in November, and the complete set of printed components due the end of October. I plan on starting the actual build in January. I've attached below the spread sheet as it stands today, but have removed the prices I paid per item. In total, I've spent about $2,000 including shipping and taxes. Voron 2.4 BOM 300mm No Cost.ods These are the companies that I purchased all of the items on the BOM: Bolt Depot McMaster-Carr Misumi US KB-3D Amazon Filistruder Fabreeko OneTwo3D (UK) Digikey Digimach OpenBuilds PrintedSolid C.S. Hyde Mandala Rose Keenovo Pirate3D (Zurich) AliExpress (China) I've had a good experience with all of the vendors so far and would not hesitate to purchase from them again. As I start actually building the printer I'll post my progress. Regards.
