@PFarm $300 isn't that bad really and they have the screwing and unscrewing running like a swiss watch.

Might be tough to find a place for it.

We need the screwing mechanism of the Rapidchange with the carousel of the Milo changer.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe have the rapidchanger on a platform sitting on a servo-operated motor.

Or maybe just mount it on the end of the bed like the Milo one. There should be enough Y to reach all of the tools and not many people fixturing parts at the end of the table.

Your right should have enough Y to reach the four tool ports. The X axis shouldn't be an issue, it can be mounted in the dead zone. The changer's height on the Z is 51.20 mm. The model that has a dust  cover, IR collet sensor, and toolsetter is an additional $200

I will 3D print the top and bottom and test the fitment and movement.

Update: Millennium Machine is putting together what they call a 4 pack, so we'll see what that looks like.

@Penatr8tor Putting the Rapidchanger on the fixture plate is out of the question.

For the spindle to align with the center of the changer on the x-axis, it needs to be in this position on the fixture plate

In this position, the spindle can only reach the 3rd port of the changer.

The changer needs to be aligned away from the Z tower for the spindle to reach the 4th port.

Maybe mounting it in this position on a movable platform with linear rails and a stepper motor to move it forward to change tools

I started the re-wiring of the Casa enclosure, installed a Wi-Fi circuit breaker, a 24v 60w PS and a 12v 60w PS. Waiting on the FBI-10-6 bridge pins for the UK2.5 DIN terminals.

Millennium Machine is working on a "four-pack" tool changer in addition to the "spice rack," which holds 8 tools for the Milo.

I purchased two of these machinist jacks, used to support overhangs of 1 inch or greater to prevent chattering. The second one to arrive tomorrow.  Adjusts from 23mm to 30mm. These work nicely with the Saunders Metal Works hobby vice.

Hi PFarm.

And what about the Rodent board? Is there any chance of resuming the project?

I got curious because I intend to buy one.

Not at the moment, I'm going to stay with the Scylla board to get more experience running the mill. Millennium OS really helps beginners learn the operation of the mill.

Woohoo! It's been a long road to get to that little video.

Yeah, you bet it's been over a year, self-sourcing slowed progress, and the last bit was finding bellows for the Y axis. With this first process found some things that need to be tweaked. Need to move the toolsetter to the opposite side where I first had it to prevent the touch probe from getting tangled in it during probing.

Congratulations! 🎉

I cannot believe other Milo owners are running it without Casa or any Enclosure at all!

Do you think the water cooling is absolutely necessary for the motor, or just a good precaution?

I always wanted to build one but I do not have space for the Casa enclosure without expanding the garage or sell one of the motorcycles lol!

Enjoy!

Thanks, yeah, can't imagine what it would look like without a Casa enclosure. Water cooling is not necessary. The idea when I purchased it was to be able to run it at a lower RPM, but I didn't know that this mill needs to be run at 12k and above.

Congrats Jack!

Awesome to see chips fly and it looks and sounds really solid. 🍻

Thanks! Yes, I'm pretty pleased with the first cuts. Still need to learn more about the Cam setup. Learning by trial and error. Looking at ordering more end mills and still setting up "Air Blast" and MQL coolant.

Wired in the coolant relays today, I need to complete the air plumbing and wire the solenoids.  Wired the pendant e-stop in series with the Casa e-stop, I couldn't get the software e-stop to work with the pendant.

I printed some wall-mount ER20 collets. It's nice that the Casa has a collet drawer, but in reality, when doing tool changes and opening and closing that drawer isn't very convenient.

In my opinion, having a pendant is a must-have mod; moving the axis to line up the touch probe is significantly easier than using the RRF GUI.
