Smol Printer Time - Salad Fork

Recommended Posts

Going to be building a Salad Fork. I want a small printer to compliment my Big Chungus 350 2.4. After researching my small printer options I settled for the Salad Fork, a deliciously overengineered small printer.

I did a pretty standardish black base and blue accent on my 2.4, so for this one I want to be a little more crazy. Here's the color scheme I am going to be going for:

Blue frame, white base, blue accents.

Going to be a little while before I start on this build, I am preordering through Fabreeko as they seem to some fantastic kits at a fantastic price. It doesn't look like it will be shipping for 45 days or so though.

I've got white KVP ABS on order and am going to start printing out parts next week.

Here are some plans that are going to make this more interesting:

Will be running canbus (Default in the kit)

Will be running boop (because once you go TAP you never go back)

Will be running an lgx lite extruder, because I like that extruder a lot on my 2.4.

Will be running a Revo, or Rapido. Not quite decided yet.

Will start updating the build log as things go.

I am back and forth with doing Rapido or Revo for this build. Never done Revo style so I wanted to try it out, but I'd also like to try some high flow / fast printing on this sucker and it looks like the Revo is more limited there. I also am already in the V6 nozzle ecosystem with the Dragon HF on my 2.4 so I would be keeping (some) of the same nozzles that way.

Thoughts? I feel like the answer is probably, go with the Rapido.

Also being better organized with this build with my printed parts

And dang 1515 extrusion printers have such small parts! Already finished all the accent pieces except for the toolhead cowling. Trying to find or make one that doesn't currently exist it seems. One that looks like the minisb, supports boop, supports the lgxlite, supports (possible rapido) AND has the Salad Fork logo on it. Currently there's one of those but it doesn't have the top portion of the cowling with the logo on it. I know it's extra weight, but it looks so cool!

I wish I could offer good news on this front but it might be a little difficult getting this exact combination to work. I am working on getting the Boop to work with the Mini Stealth - Orbiter 2.0 (which isn't exactly easy) but the LGX Lite has other collision problems and the cable routing would be a nightmare.

The Mini Sherpa looks more promising.

I have also worked up a Salad Fork shroud but I guess that the Boop/LGX combination might be more important.

There is this: https://github.com/cosmonate/VoronStuff/tree/main/Booped Toolheads which seems to check all the boxes, except it cuts off the top of the cowling.

Then, he has a CAD file for the one with the top of the cowling (with Voron logo, not Salad Fork), but it doesn't fit Rapido.

Well derp.

This 5lb spool of KVP ABS doesn't fit on my spool holder...which I had printed out and made just to fit larger spools. Guess I need to print out a larger version of the standard Voron spool holder.

Still some time away from getting the kit to start this build and took a break from printing the last parts, but I did manage to make this:

I haven't got my ERCF fully working yet, but it's working enough that I pulled this off. This is a Mini Stealthburner cowling that supports Boop Beta 4 and the LGX Lite extruder. I didn't make the base piece, but I did custom design the 2 part stl with the Salad fork logo. Files here:
