How octoprint thermal runaway work?

Pradit

Question

I did turn on this thermal runaway plugin for many times.

Each time i try it randomly shutdown my mcu.

I noticed when Im testing or fixing some issue such as my clogging problem or try to qgl while hot.

It mcu shutdown midway.

I checked there was not exceed temp. They all on target.

Sometime it was on the way cooling down the heat.

I dont understand it so I deactivate it so I could continue using my printer without interruption.

To be honest, I don't think the octoprint thermal runaway plugin is necessary (with Klipper). I imagine it has been implemented in Octoprint to compensate for  machines and firmwares that do not have thermal runaway protection.

Klipper definitely has it's own inbuilt thermal runaway protection and it is also designed in such a way that if the PI/computer running Klipper crashes then the MCU will shut down the heaters any way. Basically I think the Octoprint plugin is superfluous.

Oh yes, I can confirm that. Klipper thermal runaway protection activates pretty quickly. It will stop the printer whatever it's doing, shut off power to the heaters, and throw an error. I've had a couple of early production Revo heaters die on me and Kliper pitched a fit when they were failing on me.
