Software Configuration Issues

Veshraine

Question

I get weird ouputs when going through the controller path setup for MCU and MCUZ:

pi@fluiddpi:~ $ ls /dev/serial/by-id/
usb-Klipper_lpc1768_FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-if00
pi@fluiddpi:~ $ ls -l /dev/serial/by-id/
total 0
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 May  6 08:58 usb-Klipper_lpc1768_FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-if00 -> ../../ttyACM1
pi@fluiddpi:~ $ ../../ttyACM1

I have retried loading the firmware onto both boards. I ensured durring the make config that usb connection was enabled. Help would be very much appreciated. This is the first time ive done any configuring outside of marlin. I'm using a raspberry pi 4B Update 05/06 10:49 I have now tried both the 4B and 3 raspberry pi, no success same issue.

Build is the Voron 2.4 with SKR 1.4 non turbo

a question to your question... what ports are you using on the Pi? I would assume that you are using the 2.0 or 3.0 dual block (I could never get the usb-c port to work - it would see the controller port but never talk over it).

I am using fluiddPi and a BTT OCtopus with a direct serial connection and it works perfectly now. USB was just a pain.

Another thought, if you swap the SKR boards, do you get the same usb-Klipper connection string? Maybe they are identical between the two boards and Pi doesn't know what to do with it.

I am using the usb 2.0 ports, or at least trying to. The raspberry pi is registering that they are connected. Im using the usb type b to type a connection.

When i swap the connections i get the exact same string.

Here is some more in depth information on the device busses if it helps anyone. Looking at it in depth both iserials are fffff's across the board. That doesn't seem normal to me from what ive seen for other setups from youtube.

one of the things that you do when you make the controller klipper firmware is run make menucfg where you have the option to change the USB identifiers.  The USB port "name" resides on the controller firmware. If you changed the id of one of the controllers to a different serial number for example. I think that would isolate the USBs on the Pi with two different names. The SKR looks like it has no serial number i.e. all Fs. You could set one to be 100 and the other to be 101 is you wanted. It does mean you would end up making two different firmware.bins but that is not so bad in my view.

my mind always fills in menucfg rather than the menuconfig.

Start "make menuconfig"

when you set the port to USB, the ID menu comes up and you can fill-in your own serial number.

By the way, you will need to identify whatever micro-controller, processor model, etc is. The screen shots show the BTT Octopus.

Ow my GOD!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!! I have been using this guide provided by the voron develolpment teamhttps://docs.vorondesign.com/build/software/skr13_klipper.html

In that guide it does'nt tell you to enable extra low-level configuration options. I can not thank you enough. I made the xye board 100 and the z motor board 101, put the settings into printer.cfg hit save and restart and the beast is online. You have been the most helpful person for my build. Thank you.
