Armoured Turtle modular AMS

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately for me, he is doing almost everything on Discord.  I freaking hate Discord, it's nothing but a jumbled mess unless you read it every day.

It looks like a super awesome project though.  I am really looking forward to seeing it come along.

@mvdveer,  When are you going to start on yours?  😉

Once I finish:

  • doing the maintenance on the 2 Vorons and 2 Tridents:
  • Completing the tradrack setup on the trident
  • Completing the ERCF V2 on the Voron 2.4 300mm build
  • Updating all printers to Beacon or Cartographer
  • Rebuilding the VZBot toolhead and updating the Z-axis to CNC parts
  • Tuning all the printers
  • Upgrading the V0.1 to V0.2 (had the kit for 3months now)
  • Starting and finishing the Milo1.5 build

Not necessarily in that order.

Then...... Maybe 🤣😂

How many printers do u have and how many are vorons just curious and what one is your favourite

A total of 14:

  • Voron 2.4r2 - 350mm
  • Voron 2.4r2 - 300mm
  • Trident - 300mm
  • Trident - 250mm
  • V0.1 - Stock
  • v0.1 - Trizero Mod
  • V0.1 - Boxzero Mod
  • Voron Micron - 180mm
  • Voron Switchwire
  • VZBOT 330 AWD
  • Rat Rig V-Minion
  • Ender 5 Modded and Ikea Lak enclosure - working but not in use
  • Ender 5 Plus Modded and Ikea Lak enclosure - working but not in use
  • Ender XRX Modded - dual color - working but not in use

Favourite? How can that even be possible? One most used - Trident 300mm which is currently "in maintenance". Rebuilding the toolhead for Galileo 2 extruder, twin sensor with Filametrix.  Have not done much printing lately.

Robert (the person behind Armored Turtle) only made 8 sets. Of course, they sold out very quickly. Maybe it is just me, but I find it strange how he is going about this. He is making some money on those PCBs to fund further orders, so why not order 100 of them? He should realize that they will sell out.  Also, under the cassette BOM, parts and quantities are listed, but also a line that is "? m3 screws - many - assorted."  Weird.

Don't get me wrong, this looks like an awesome alternative to other AMS systems and once the build is fleshed out a bit more I am going to have a go at it.

I nearly pulled the trigger on a Bambu X1 Carbon a little while ago just because of the AMS.  It also just works.  We purchased one at work a little while ago and it was about an hour and a half from the time we pulled it out of the box until we were printing.   I was extremely impressed with the print quality and speed of that machine.

Nothing wrong with that approach. But were is the fun frustration in that?

I have made similar assumptions (-:

Since then I have acknowledged that "tech smarts" and "biz smarts" in the same person is very unusual.

Milo is done and working. (Not using it much)  but the casa enclosure still needs some finishing touches - just not a priority at present. The size of the thing puts me off

I've been itching for a MMU or whatever you choose to call it.

This one seems to be the one for me, I think I'll be self sourcing it as I have a truck load of "spares" after stripping the TronXY down.

I self sourced - most parts are readily available.
