Quality - needs some work on the seam and belt-tension

Maybe Z-Belts need tightening a bit more

Overall for a first print, cannot complain too much. Think I am falling in love with this baby.

Let's see how the obligatory benchy turns out.

Welcome to the Family V2.6018

Well that was quick. Was planning to post the link to the serial video request tonight. Here it is for those interested:

On to the VZBot resurrection and converting it to AWD

Just so you know... mines is still the coolest one. 🙂

Looks really good mate. And as often, puts to shame many of the bodges I did in mines to put up with my not that impressive kit.

How r u getting on with it?

My Micron has benched literally all my other printers. I'm so impressed with it.

How is the beacon? After my experiences with the non conctact probes in the switchwire, I'm inclined to keep using clicky/bltouch for a while... find them more reliable and repitable.

It is a workhorse and prints great. Did not up beacon on this as I could not get a mount to work with the official mini stealthburner. Went with boop instead and working great. Have mounted the beacon on the VZBot I am in the process of restoring..

Won't argue there

Have been using Orca slicer now for the past two weeks and love it. This little micron flies. What a printer!

I'm hearing more and more about orcaslicer... and some of the big youtubers are switching over....

Having you as a first hand user and maybe a more neutral opinion... what are the actual benefits of it?(well knowing you, jumping to any new thing just coz is there I may take it with a pinch of salt)

It is actively being developed and updated. ( Last official release of SS was nearly a year ago - 22 September 2022)

The supports available in Orcaslicer are better than those in super slicer.

Better interface than superslicer,  but that is a personal preference.

For me it is a more logical (intuitive) interface, simple but powerful. Initially tried Orcaslicer when it was released (very briefly), then went back to super slicer, till I wanted tree supports which Orcaslicer has. Has just kept using it since then and have ABS filament tuned in pretty well.

Has a tab to connect directly to the printer.

Give it a try and see if you like it - sure you will

It could work with flathead screws but then they start getting very close to the same height as the nozzle.

The overhang at the bottom of the carriage is already steeper than the typical 45° but I might be able to re-work the highlighted section so the heatset inserts can sit lower to work better with 25mm screws. The only problem is that I will be on vacation for the next couple weeks.. 🌄

Hey, long time. Was there any addl work on this? I have recently moved my 3 big dooms to beacon, and I am lovingit. Im now starting collecting parts to doom my micron and ditch boop. Once again thanks.

I was able to work something up. The M3x25 screws should fit now but I would recommend using flatheads.

I don't think that shroud was ever made available publicly and I only have one shroud modeled so far which is for the Orbiter 2.0/Revo combination. (I'm sure you've got a couple of those lying around 😉)

I will have to find a better way to upload the next release because there are so many different variations that the list of download files will get quite out of hand.

mvdveer , this is such a good build log I've now read it three times.

And I much prefer using this traditional forum format compared to discourse where even using the search function it's difficult to find and follow  a topic.

Did you have any problems importing the kit into Australia ? If it weren't for the lousy exchange rates USD vs AUD I would order this kit based on your experiences .

Thanks again for the log , this kind of detail must at least double construction time I imagine.

No trouble importing to Australia. Though with the current exchange rate, this is an expensive exercise, especially the delivery costs - about a third of the price of the printer.

No worries at all. I enjoy doing this and sharing in the hope it may benefit someone else.

Micron Manual pages 37 - 45 Z-Idlers:

Hit a snag with the bed heater. As I imported the kit from Fabreeko in the USA, a 120V silicone heater-pad was supplied.

Australia is 240V. E-mailed @Fabreeko_Hector and awaiting his advice. Don't want to ruin the LDO kit by fitting a heater-pad knock off from Aliexpress.

I'm in the same predicament . I couldn't see a 180x180 unit on the Keenovo website . What did you end up ordering from them ?

I ordered the 150x150 Keenovo heater as I think this is the same size as the one 120V one supplied in the kit. Has been working very well. They have them in both 220V and 24V.

When I was building my V-Minion, the folks at Keenovo were very easy to work with. They have the option for custom heaters and I just sent them an  email to [email protected] with dimensions, specs and what printer it was for. They replied within a day with pricing and verifying the details. It cost $45 for a 160x160mm 240V pad. It took about a month to arrive but it was a perfect fit.
