Voron 2.4r2 back panel issue

SamppaD

Question

Hi to everyone. I was away for some time from the forum due to some unexpected life issues, but now I`m back. Starting to build a better enclosure for my printers. So I was printing some parts for project  with my voron and  noticed strange vibration sound during print, like it comes and goes. Couldn't pin point issue during cold run as it was not there but after inspecting during printing with enclosure hot (print as expected failed) notice that  my voron panels are starting to bend /sag, especially back panel. Exhaust fan is mounted on the back and as expected when  exhaust hose is connected to the fan output it start to bend the panel slightly. When enclosure  is hot about 50C panel start to flex in the middle  to the point that gantry belts will start to contact the panel at that Z height.
Any mod or solution to this problem except swapping thicker panels or go glass panels all the way 🙂 ? Panel is stock Voron kit black polycarbonate 3mm?

My bottom panel between the bed and electronics on my 350 (V2.4r2) is definitely warped but on in my 300 (V2.4r2) is not. I have designed and made some “holders” that bolt on the extruders and support the panel around. I do not have the STLs published yet, but I will post them here when I do.

For the back panel I have no problems and I do "hang" a large device for the CPAP system (see details at Voron 2.4r2 350 mm getting serviced & updated aka "Rabbit Hole") but I have replaced all the original panel clips with Parametric Panel Latch for 2020 extrusions and Voron using Steel Spring Wire.

Also, I use 1/4 Inch Wide X 1/16 Inch Thick Adhesive Foam Tape between all panels and the extrusions. I believe it helps to keep cabinet temperature higher and also to stop any vibration resonance between the panels and aluminum extrusions.

Hi Nikos. I think its the corners clips at fault here, when tightened clip bend inwards . Back panel is mounted with 3mm foam and mod stock clips to fit. When mounted foam is slightly compressed so panel needs to be flat, as there is not much free space between frame gantry and panel. For me all others side and bottom panels are fine. On the bottom panel i have support clips  so no issues with bottom panel warping. This is exactly what i had in mind  Parametric Panel Latch for 2020 extrusions and Voron using Steel Spring Wire 🙂 This mod will make panel removal so much easier. By the way looking at the file there is a lot of parts how many is actually needed to print per panel to secure panel well? Will this hinge fit 3mm foam+3mm panels?

Update:

Removed back panel  and mounts. Found out that panel was warped considerable inwards. Placed the panel on a level surface and i can see that there is a gap around the panel in excess of at least 3mm,midlle part bulging, also all seals are squished to about 1.5mm thickness. Solution as i need to print new mounts for panels, I rotated panel 180 degree and put new 3mm  seals on it. Now i have a proper gap  between the gantry and panel.

I suspect mounts and heat affecting seals and panel. Well lets see what happens in the future.

You only need the Outer_Hinge, Main_Body and Choose one of the Mid_Hinge_ options for each hinge. I have updated the instructions of the Printable post also.

If you use Fusion you can download the provided f3d drawing and from the Parameters table you can adjust the thickness of the Plexiglass and foam thickness. The foam tape I mentioned above is about 1.65 mm thick and I found 1 mm in the Fusion parameters is perfect for some pressure on the foam.

Cheers!

Nikos
