Bontech INDX Tool Changer

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

According to the Bontech site this will be available for purchase in November 2025. The Thin Passive Tool will be $35 US, and the Smart Tool Head $250 US. Looks like a well design system for multi-colour, multi-material printing.

Nero (Canuck Creator) visits Bontech, at 5:28, you can see the testing in progress. At 11:04 looks like they're using a Voron V2 for testing.

Livestream of the Bondtech INDX.

You said it; rabbit hole!

It looks like a great idea and without having tried it looks more robust than a filament changer (ERCF, AMS etc.) and all shortcomings; complex and finicky mechanism for loading/unloading filaments, filament waist, filament loop holding area etc. True IDX systems will be faster and maybe more flexible, but difficult to DIY and implement more than 2 heads, and you will need multiple full heads (extruder, heater, temperature sensor, fan(s) etc.) which is more complex and high cost.

Looking forward to the final product. Personally, I like

Bonctech products as my original LGX never missed a bit and now the LGX Light V2 works as good!

Running with klipper, rrf or marlin?

In the video it was running on a V0, so I would say definitely Klipper compatible. Don't know about RatRig or Marlin but being bondtech - would assume support for those will be there

For anyone considering using the Bontech INDX when released in a Trident, I found this system for the Lineux system, but it could also be adapted for the Bontech. There is no STL, but you can generate them from the step file.
