ADXL345 is it required or optional

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am building my Voron 2.4 and at the end of putting the stealthburner tool head on the rail. Last step is to install the ADXL345 but it is not in my kit. I looked at the BOM and it is not listed there. So is it missing or optional and I need to get one. Thanks

Optional but it does improve print quality at higher speeds. It's also bundled into some (optional) toolhead electronics such as the BigTreeTech EBB and the Cartographer. If you plan on installing one of those, no need for a separate board.

(I think the Cartographer actually uses a different chip, but it's equally well supported by Klipper.)

You have the Beacon Rev H probe as per your build log and this is automatically registered to the system. It has an integrated ADXL345 on the board. See documentation here:

Beacon ADXL

If you are also using a CANBUS toolhead board (SB2040, SHT36, etc) , that would normally have an ADXL chip in it. So no need to buy a seperate board for this function.

Cartographer uses either ADXL345 or LIS2DW.  I have both on different printers and have not seen the difference but the LIS2DW is better with noise and heat.  Probably a better option for something that is right above the bed.

Thanks for all the input. I guess as mvdveer noted, I just got the Beacon so I don't need one. Please pardon my lack of know how since this is my first build and Voron so I have yet to know what goes in to this printer. But I will... on my next build... If I get this one printing... ha ha.. Thanks all.

As everyone else mentioned, and I fully agree that It does improve printing quality, especially if you start printing in higher speeds.

Just in case you have not cross paths, I have and still using Initial Startup Checks from the Voron docs. for every Voron built. I just used it when rebuilt my Voron 2.4r2 with a Stealthburner and other mods.

Cheers!
