Connect Beacom

Hello everyone, I bought a LDO Nitehawk 36 Toolhead that turned out to be unusable, the goal was to use the USB port on board to connect the Beacon, LDO has announced that it will make a new version available in 3\4 months.... So I bought a Mellow SHT 36 V3 to use in rs232, the UTOR board is equipped with a hub with two USB ports. I would like your opinion: is it possible to connect the Beacom to one of the 2 ports on the UTOR board.
Unfortunately on the Raspberry PI4 having the adapter for m2 hdd, the Octopus Pro, the webcam and the UTOR I do not have space for the Beacom.
Thanks

If you're running out of USB ports use a USB Hub. I've used them with RPI on other projects with no issues. What were your problems with the NIghthawk? The over-temp shutdown issue? If not then you may want to look at it again. I'm still running my Nighthawk and beacon, with the beacon running to the USB port on the Nighthawk board. I didn't have to do anything special other than make sure I wired it up correctly. The wire colors are not a reliable way to determine the pinout. You'll have to compare both components' diagrams and ensure they are wired correctly.

Edit, after I looked up the Mellow SHT 36 V3, it says the two ports on the UTOR board can be used as rs232 to USB or USB extension. I read that is yes, you should be able to connect USB devices to it with no issues.

Just buy a Pi USB hub. I added one to my RatRig for the same reason... Ran out of ports.

@Andrea60 Just a quick note...

I attached my Beacon and the Octopus directly to the Pi USB ports and the other peripheral devices like camera and USB touch interface for the klipperscreen to the hub. It probably doesn't matter but if it does... I figured that I'd be covered.

Are you referring to a powered hub? I have a powered hub in both of my printers.

It could be a powered hub. The ones I have are just the little Pi hats connected with a USB cable.

I would assume that if you have it loaded with a lot of devices then powered would be better.

So, as promised I'll update you on the use of the HUB on board the UTOR Mellow. The connection tests with the Beacon have given positive results and it is seen and installed without problems. Now however I find myself with another problem but I'll open a new Topic
