SKR 1.4 turbo + BTT sb2209(rp2040) on a Trident?

so I killed my Octopus, but I have an SKR 1.4 turbo sitting around.  would there be any reason why I couldn't use the SKR to control the X, Y, and 3 Z motors, plus the bed heater on the SKR?

My thought is that I could use the E0 and E1 connections on the SKR to control the 2 front Z motors since the extruder is running off the CAN toolhead.

I found a cfg file for the skr + an add on board, so some of the config is already done.  I just need to tweak it and set the E0 and E1 for Z control (I guess)

What am I not thinking about?

I’m getting there. Been a busy week with kids’ school sports, so I haven’t had much time to mess with it.

I’ve got it to where it starts to home, but then the MCU restarts before it completes homing any axis. Even if I just home one axis at a time, it reboots. So I’m starting to troubleshoot that today.

but I feel like I’m at least moving in the right direction. Anyone have thoughts on why the mcu would try to reboot when homing?

I don't know whats going on now.  I figured out the homing problem.  I had the x endstop plugged into the the wrong plug in the CAN toolhead board.  So I got that switched.  But now it looks like my SKR board is dead.  the Pi can't see it at all.  nothing in /dev/serial directory.  I'm about to throw this thing out the window.  driving me crazy

Does it report it if you run lsusb?

If your skr is not seen by the pi, try to put the firmware directly on the sdcard using a sdcard reader. This happened to me two or three times when updating the firmware using the script.

when you power on the board, does the led light on?

check the usb connector on the skr board. I had to replace one a while back.

That may be the problem. I can power the skr over the usb port and it will take new firmware (because it changes the extension of it to .cur), but I still can’t see the board via usb, so maybe the usb port is bad. In looking at skr1.4 turbo and the octopus board that I fried, I just ordered another octopus board and a new PSU.  There was only $9 difference in the skr and the octopus, and I’m hoping that replacing the psu fixes why I’ve fried 2 boards. I’m thinking the cheap one I had on hand must be sending a surge when I flip the switch or something. I’ll try to replace the usb on the skr and hopefully use it on the next project.
