Voron 2.4 300 Refurb

Now that I've got my vz330 working how I want it, it's time to refurb my 2.4.

At present it's got:

CNC TAP

Manta M8P v1.2/ CB1 I believe the M8P is dead, it's not showing up on my router. I have swapped out the CB1 but it didn't cure it.

EBB36

Rapido 2 UHF

Yes, it has always been this messy.

What I've got lined up for this refurb are:

Mellow Fly Super 8 v1.3

Mellow SHT36-V3

Biqu CPAP kit.

Cartographer CAN with CNC mount.

I'll be keeping the Rapido.

I need to get a Pi but unsure which one to go for 4 or 5 4gb or 8gb.

I am hoping that the install goes as smoothly as the vz330, though I imagine that getting the CAN up and running could be fun.

Depends on price. But a minimum of 4gb will be just fine. But, I always push the edge so if it was me Pi5 8GB

It will - having done CAN once, the second will be a breeze, seeing you are "mellow" now.  Just stick to the instructions and sequence for install.

So last night I found out that the Manta M8P board and its CB1 wasn't dead - it was just the SD card that had failed. This seems to be a common event.

Nevertheless the M8P will be replaced as I have no desire to go through the often troublesome flashing of the M8P/CB1.

My new Pi5 arrives today, along with SanDisk 64gb SD card. This means that I should be able to use the Esoteric guide to get it all up and running.

CPAP compatible Stealthburner cowl fitted.

What you can't see is the Mellow SHT36 v3, that wasn't fun!

All the connector on that board are one size smaller than the EBB36, fiddly little buggers.

I had best results flashing this...

...to the SD card and then a full Klipper install using KIAUH by SSHing into the Pi.

I did exactly the same procedure - I found a useful YouTube post that pointed me in the right direction.

what version of the SHT36 board do you have?

The micron has this board:

But I just received 2 V3 boards today. Will try and flash one and upload the process when I get home

You'll need this - https://mellow.klipper.cn/#/board/fly_sht36_v3/README

The translation is sometimes a bit iffy.

Before I saw your post:

Just got home and flashed the board with katapult (although it says it comes pre-installed) and klipper. Used the Mellow website and mine is slightly different to your setup in the Flash Chip.

This is my katapult setup

and the klipper setup:

For any others, this is the process I followed:

1. Set the jumpers on the board for can and klipper

2. Enable the resitor

3. Put the board in boot mode and flash katapult to it.

4. Get the UUID

5. Connect the board via the canbus and flash klipper firmware

I did much the same.

At first I had issues with the board showing up when I sent lsusb. I changed the USB cable and that seemed to cure it. After that intial hiccough, it was plain sailing once I found the correct mellow page. They are much easier to set up than the BTT gear.

Totally agree. Took me most of a Saturday to set ups the EBB36 - Fried three of them in the process. (One by hooking up power incorrectly, one by entering the wrong pin for the heater and one when I shorted it with the multimeter troubleshooting) Took me a mere 30min to setup the SHT36 from Mellow - and that is with reading included. And mellow comes with a very well made pre precrimped harness. (Plug and play - no guessing)

It's about time I did an update to the v2.4

She lives again!

Because I got one very cheap, I fitted a Manta M8P v2 with a CB2 (it was a M8P v1.1) along with a BTT U2C (no messing about with can bridges for me.

I pinched the Beacon from my vZ330 (it needs a new X gantry rail) and fitted it to a Cartographer CNC toolhead mount - https://cartographer3d.com/products/cartographer3d-cnc-stealthburner-mount

The toolhead is - https://www.printables.com/model/513437-stealthburner-mod-for-cpap-lgx-lite-and-sb2040

with a BTT Turbo Fan Kit.

I've kept the Orbiter 2, Rapido UHF2 and EBB36

So I noticed that the M8P, CB2 & the EBB 36 temps were getting into the high 80s during big prints.

According to BTT, the CB2 does not need a heatsink. But, I think that 88c is way too high to be healthy.

Off to Onshape I went and designing I did. I came up with a simple plate that takes a 80 fan and a 40 fan.

M8Pdualfanmount.thumb.jpg.83593aa68d147144981df66bb4df7e3f.jpg

It made a big difference.

TempsFans.jpg.09fde32594fa9fe979d1e2a190ae7bce.jpg

I downloaded an stl for an EBB36 fan from printables, now it's temp stays at around chamber temperature - it was peaking at 102c.
