Welcome @AdSiJu

There are quite a few Trident build diaries and plenty of discussion about the latest eddy current probes, CAN toolhead boards, etc, etc. should you have any questions during your build.

And since you're building... Start a build diary. It's great place to track your progress, get help, bounce ideas off of others, share some cool stuff and the list goes on.

Feel free to jump in!

Nice!  thanks.  I am self sourcing and not nearly organized enough to remember to document the process.  I'll try to get some pictures up to show where I am right now.  I almost have all of the mechanicals assembled and am getting started on wiring.  I realized today that the CAN bus package I got off amazon didn't include the thermistor or pre-terminated wires and the thermistor that I bought didn't have the right plug to fit into the sb2209/rp2040 socket.  and apparently, I suck at terminating those god-awful tiny white connectors, so I ordered the proper thermistor and pre-terminated wires from Biqu.  totally worth the $10 for hours of less headaches and cussing.  one of the many little issues that make these projects fun to build.  I'll ty to get my butt in gear and document the process when I get home.

Crimping terminals is like golf... everybody sucks at it, and everybody gets frustrated in the beginning.

Sadly... you are not going to get away without crimping something. Good news is... it's not that bad really and you only need 4 things to be an expert crimper.

1. Optivisor or a magnifier of some sort.

2. A couple crimpers, one for JST (the tiny white connectors) and one for lug type terminals and a wire stripper. These are my goto crimpers and strippers that work best for me and trust me... I have over a dozen crimpers that I've tried and hate collecting dust in a drawer.

3. A few connector sets. You'll need two JST sets, one JST-XH 2.54mm and one JST-PH 2mm. A Dupont kit. And a lug terminal kit.

4. Some practice. The real trick is to load the terminal into the crimper to the first click, then insert the wire and squeeze.

After a bit of practice, you'll be a regular crimpin' fool like the rest of us.

Thanks,  I've got a JST, dupont, and ferrule kits and a cheap lug wire crimper/stripper.  I was trying to recrimp the JST from my thermistor and the wire just kept breaking, so I ended up just ordering a thermistor with the right connector.  crimping is one of those things that I have planned on learning to do well for a while, but I don't do it enough to to get into a rhythm.  I guess I'll get that opportunity in the coming weeks of wiring this bad boy up.

Yes you will.

For me the 3 biggest things were, magnification, stripping the correct length and loading the terminal into the crimper 1st.

Good luck,

Looks like you're well on your way.
