Mr. Filament Welder / Winder build

Recommended Posts

I was running into the problem of too many mostly used spools of filament. I tried a bunch of DIY splicers with heat and various PTFE arrangements. But they all were kind of a pain and not very precise.

Cruising the web I stumbled onto a video on You Tube PET welder and Mr Winder being a big Mel Brooks fan I had to watch the video.

Following the Links the creator of this has a Kit and Plans available on his ETSY store. I decided to go the kit route this time rather than self source.

So far the documents and packaging are very well done.

I am using Polymaker PolyTerra filament, which looks great but sure likes to warp. I fought with it on my CR6 and now switch over to my Voron Rep 3 and it's cranking out the parts with the help from the Vision Miner Nano adhesive just for good measure.

Just waiting on a few small parts.

Well packaged and labeled

I didn't realize how much filament I had until I made the rep racks for my Home Depot shelfs.

More progress today and some wire management. I hate shoving bundles of wires in boxes. So I shortened up all the final terminations. I'm very glad I built my Voron the long and hard way. Jobs like this are cake now.

Ahh much better

Right? It was a learning experience, but now that kind of stuff is a doddle. As much as I liked the convenience of just plugging in the pre-made harness on the V0, I'm also glad I did it the hard way on the Trident.
