Lets Build a Trident

Since I heard somewhere that a single Voron feels very lonely, I decided to give him a Trident. It should be the 250 size and not a kit.
The following mods are planned directly:
- Stealth burner with TAP
- Ramala idler
- PIN mod
- inverted Ebay
- Nevermoore
- 5" Touchdisplay

Since I also have a quirk with Bosch power tools, the design is adapted to the blue Bosch devices and the Trident gets the name GVT-250 so that it fits the naming of the blue tools.

The biggest problem at the moment is finding an ABS in a matching blue colour, a few samples have been ordered and I hope there is something suitable.

Hip hip Hooray. Hip Hip Hooray!

V2.4635 is getting a mate.

Can't wait to see this build. Must say I love my Trident. As I am running Canbus and Umbilical, the only thing I need to change is extending the top to take the strain of the umbilical.

And the mods you have planned are excellent. when it comes to the inverted electronics bay, have a think of which fans you are going to use, as there is a mod to use Noctua fans or similar, which are a bit thicker than the BOM fans.

Thanks for the tip, I actually planned the 60x25 Noctua fans. On 2.4 they fit into the standard skirts without any mods.
To be honest, I have some respect for CAN and don't see any real added value for me at the moment, but you should never say never

Good to know. As far as I recall it wasn't the skirts being the problem but, the mounts for the din rails as these mount over the fans. I had to reprint the "green" parts to make the noctua fit. (STL here). At the time of my build, I considered using spacers as well.

Woo! Another Trident! 😁 I fully approve of the the list of mods. I don't have the inverted electronics bay (that was developed just as I completed my build and I'm not redoing all that), so my swap to Noctuas for the bottom was plug-and-play. So worth it, they are so much quieter than the spec fans.

What hotend is going in this one?

The Trident will be getting a Rapido HF which was recently on sale for €53 so I couldn't resist getting two for the Price of one 🤗

At the moment I'm browsing through what I still have in stock and I'm amazed at how well stocked my warehouse is, I hardly have to buy any screws because I have most of them here 🙈

I noticed that the selection of Z-Steppers with spindles is very limited, here it will probably come down to LDO. What did you install or can you recommend?

I installed the moons steppers as they came with the formbot kit - very quiet and efficient. I have only heard good things about LDO - so you cannot go wrong there. Steppers online's motors are very noisy, so stay away from those..

Your right can't go wrong with LDO steppers but from experience on my 2.4r2 build, the Moon steppers are a lot quieter than the LDO. I thought I had an issue with the Moon steppers not holding up the gantry turned out to be z belts not tight enough. Had ordered LDO steppers to replace the z stepper and noticed they were noisier than the Moon ones.  So when I figured out the belt tension issue I put back the Moon Z stepper and again notice the difference. I also had an LDO e-stepper installed, but it kept overheating replaced with a Moon stepper and has not been an issue since. Don't get me wrong the LDO steppers are good steppers.

I have LDO for the Z motors and Stepperonline for the AB motors. I have not felt that the AB are any louder than the LDO Z motors. Oh, and an LDO pancake for the CW2.

I think that will be exactly the mixture that I will also use.
I hope the samples of the blue filament will come soon and the blue fits, then the V2 will get something to do until everything arrives.
I'll save the TAP parts until the end, I heard that a new version is in the test phase.

The Pi availability is a bit annoying, you can't get it new and they are traded like gold in the classifieds. I'll probably use my octopi from Anycubic for that, the Anycubic will probably retire anyway, it can't compete against two Voron 😄

It was the only Shop other than Alliexpress that had Silver Trident Frames. I was skeptical at first because the Price is unbeatable compared to the Misumi. But after the first Test I'm reassured, let's see how it is when setting up.

All orders are slowly being placed and the waiting for them to arrive begins 😄

What is not yet clear to me about inverted Ebay: The lower plate is attached with the tabs and VHB tape according to the instructions?
The upper plate only rests on the small retaining clips in the profile? Doesn't it rattle when the printer accelerates?

I'm starting to know all the parcel carriers by their first names and almost all the parts have arrived. The only thing missing is the filament. I hope that comes soon and especially the blue meets my expectations

Construction has started 🤗

The installation of the Ramala idler is a good test of whether the pressure parts are stable, I held my breath a bit during installation 🙈

The blue ABS has finally arrived and the first layer is printing. The Fillamentum ABS seems to have a pretty strong tendency to warping, I hope I can get a better grip on that

A small update, unfortunately the construction is progressing a bit slowly but I'm in no hurry.

I think the color combination fits quite well, however the ABS from Fillamentum is a bit bitchy when printing, it warps quite a lot and if you print the perimeters too fast they get messy.

It's about time to let you participate in the progress of my Trident. I would like to start with the solution I found to center the PEI sheet quickly and easily. I cut small angles from an aluminum angle profile (12x12x2mm). In the cut-outs for the 2.4, I put properly filed hammer nuts for attachment

The next step was setting up the electronics compartment and making the cable harness for the toolhead. Since I didn't like fastening the cables upwards with cable ties, I thought of a solution with an aluminum profile
