Leviathan issue

Recommended Posts

I recently pulled the octopus board out of my trident  250 and installed a leviathan.

kipper told me my firmware was not compatible with klipper or something to that effect so went through the process of updating.

onsite what I did wrong but now when I try to list the serial devices I’m not seeing the leviathan cpu.

so trying to figure out how to reset the board to scratch and start over.

can anybody point me in the right direction?

Why, I just looked at the specifications and it would not fit my build. I have gone from a Duet 3 6HC that worked extremely well but there Scanning Z intermediate board is surface mount and junk! Now Mellow board and an eddy current probe but I went back to the proven Manta M8P V2 ran it in Can until jabberwocky came along. Now it's USB. I have been using the Manta as it has 7 fan options and 8 drivers and you can clip in a CM4 or CB1. I am using the CM4 with 32 gigs of EMMC memory and it runs the show. Also using the Cartographer V4 and love this system. I had the same Manta M8P V2 in a Creality CR10S ProV2 and ran it for two years pretty non-stop. I went with Duet as they are the most reliable board built. Expensive but reliable. I was using the Duet interface and it is very similar to Mainsail but the layout is different. Don't know why anyone would put klipper on it but they have.

I agree, look at esoterica they probably have your board listed. That you now that you re-set the board you will probably have to set in DFU mode. You went through this with your Octopus board. Leviathan should have documents on their site as well.

That is what I used before jabberwocky. They also have usb like the nighthawk 36 tool board. Flashing the board is easy, but you need it in dfu mode. Based on the CPU the flash is probably to 0483:df11 you can find out when you get it dfu mode. Probably need to update Klipper anyway.

Check the version you flashed and the version of the board. V1.2 and V1.3 have different MCU's thus require different settings in the flashing process. If new you should have a V1.3 but it could have been old stock ..........

In addition, there is a CAN passthrough on board so you can also flash it for that it will then require you to specify a can id in the printer.cfg, not a usb uuid.

i.e when I reflashed my Leviathan V1.2 board to use the CAN passthrough interface for my toolhead board the following changes were done in my printer.cfg

Thus the wiring went: USB from PI to Leviathan, CAN from Leviathan to EBB36 - but the Leviathan requires mapping via the CAN id, not usb id in that case.
