A chamber heating solution for switchwire

Recommended Posts

AMorning all,

Since I have insulate my switchwire well I can reach 55 to 60 degree in the chamber.

60 degree only with preheating for an hour on 100 degree bed temp.

Im looking for a solution without a 24 or 220 heating device. Currently I did build 2 fan that were uses for cooling the build plate on another voron like printer.

But it seems I need to put 2 Fans directly under the heat bed to get more hot airflow.

I can use abs cf or abs FG for holding fans in place but I'm unsure what fans I should use. I know sunon and some other brands are fine but is there a non metal housed fan that can withstand 100 to 120 degree longer that 3 month?

Usually I print stuff that needs 5 to 20 hours to be printed once or twice a week for Cosplay or "adult" playstuff.

Any suggestions are welcome if needed I can provide a picture of the fan setup and from my heatbed carrier.

Regards

Boris

Hi Boris,

I use these 5015 fans under my V2 350 bed. I've set them up to run a 10% until the bed temperature is reached, then at 35%. I installed the open side facing the bed, at the front of the bed, and they exhaust towards the back of the printer.

Well...saying you are running a Switchwire automatically implies bed slinger. 😉

I could see @PFarm's solution working if you were to mount the fans to the frame and centered under the bed.

Switchwire, I missed that! 🥺

I am not sure how the bed frame works on that one moving and all that a look at the Ellis fan mod as is a simple fan mount for the 50 15 fans and make some mount near one edge if possible the 2.4 had them mounted just below the bed on the lower rail so was about the thickness of your finger below the bed and using ellis fan setup only came on when bed hit x temp and the percentages like pfarm said but like I said not sure how the switch wire works

Ignoring the fact my SW is in bits - a 5015 blower fan to the left and right at the front should not have any clearance issues - bed frame is higher.

To test you could use double sided tape initially to see if it works well enough. For pre-heat after homing you could bring the bed forward to just cover the fan intake. Fan speed would have to be moderated to not overwhelm the 200w bed.PXL_20250509_112835067R.thumb.jpg.a130f2833425ad6fd25a1580d3624622.jpg

I have dropped in a picture of my 2.4 as an example of where those fans are located for airflow.
