Solvol deyer

Recommended Posts

Hi I have a solvol fillament dryer the white cheap one and I have to say it works well 48h time temp upto 50 deg c

But I found out when the roll gets low some how it lifts the roll off the rollers and yes they run smoothly.

And then it jams up and well the extruder drags it off the bench until it hits the printer so from what I can see the entry angle on the front holes once the roll gets low is all wrong.

My thoughts was simple mod and change outlets to allow ptfe tube in with a bit of a tail to follow the tube mabie 50mm ish what do u guys thing or some other idea

I use one of the single spool Sunlu's as my dry box for printing. It was my first dryer and while it's not as good as my 2 spool Eibos... it's better than a pipe sticking out of the side of the printer.

Camera mount is looking pretty nice! 😃

I would say the exit hole is too high, the issue is that when the spool is full it has weight, when it is nearly empty is does not have enough weight to keep it in place. If there has to be miss alignment it should be when the spool it full.

Nothing you couldn't fix with a brick strategically placed on top of the box.  😆

Are you asking why I'm feeding from the bottom of the spool up into the bowden (ptfe) tube?

If so, it's because I had a similar problem what VDZ is describing below except... When I had the tube at the bottom... it would pull the spool into the front of the box and it would jam. So, I used the topmost hole for the tube and feed up from the bottom. It might sound counter intuitive but the spool, even the paper ones, will have enough weight to allow the filament to unwind completely without jamming. And if I want more weight in the spool, I can always throw in a desiccant pack in the hole. So far, it's done the job well enough for me to change things up but soon, I will have my Voron up on the table and I will need to implement some kind of filament management system.

It is a problem especially with the new cardboard spools. Best to have the role in the dryer reversed and feed from the bottom of the printer and not above the printer. I have the exact same Sovol, and it works fine as long as the sovol is below the printer and not on top.
