Hot-end polarity

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I’m trying to install my new 24V hot end (Rapido plus 2.0) and can’t find any information on the polarity. Are these hot ends not polarity sensitive and need to be connected in the correct + and - way? Seems all info and videos I find are just skipping over this topic like it would not matter.

any thoughts? Thanks! Casatec

It does not matter. It is not polarity sensitive. It’s the same concept as putting a piece of metal across a 9v battery. The metal will get hot no matter which direction you have it. It’s basically creating a lot of resistance in the resistant material at the end of a closed circuit creating heat as a byproduct. Same with an endstop. It is not polar sensitive either.

On the hotend side Polarity really doesn't matter. It is only important on the heater bed as the fuse is normally wired into the positive.

It definitely doesnt matter in the mains powered heated bed either. You can’t be sure which wire in the wall plug is positive anyway
